Franklin Square, one of Philadelphia’s five original squares, is the only park in the city strictly dedicated to fun. It also happens to house downtown Philadelphia’s sole mini-golf course. The recently renovated square features Old City-themed holes, including the Ben Franklin Bridge, a clanging Liberty Bell and a replica of the oldest street in America, Elfreth’s Alley. As an added bonus, an in-house DJ plays all of your favorite ghoulish tunes while golfers putt the night away.

The Discover America course marries education and fun with its mountains, water rapids and replicas of United States geographical locations. The recently renovated waterfall adventure course challenges even pros as rock walls and tumbling waterfalls meet putters at every twist and turn. Although the farm is a little further afield — 30 miles from downtown Philadelphia — it’s worth the drive just for a taste of Freddy’s Dairy Store’s delicious homemade ice cream. The farm offers 30 flavors, including soft vanilla and chocolate cones to die for.

Fox Meadow Miniature Golf is a low-key, 18-hole course sans clowns and rocket ships. The beautifully manicured grounds delight with colorful flowers, lush greenery and clean putting challenges. For the hardcore golf enthusiast, Fox Meadow provides a driving range, practice putting area, short game area, sand trap and target greens for adults to enjoy while the kids putt to their hearts content.
