Top Daytime Concerts Coming To Philly This Summer

Summer has arrived, and there is no place better than Philadelphia to celebrate the warm weather and all that the city has to offer, including great daytime summer concerts. There are outdoor night concerts to be found around the city and suburbs all summer long. But for the young families and "early to bed" people who love outdoor entertainment, nighttime concerts are not always enjoyable. So here are the best daytime concerts that everyone in the family can be awake to hear. Whether you are into folk, rock, rap or pop, here's a list of the best daytime concerts that you will find this season around Philadelphia.

The XPoNential Music Festival is put on every year by WXPN, University of Penn and Philadelphia's best non-commercial public FM radio station. The three-day concert takes place in July and hosts an impressive lineup, including Father John Misty, The Felice Brothers, The District and many more local and international bands. The festival is an all-day event for three days, with artists performing at the BB&T Pavilion each night. Those artists include Alabama Shakes, Ryan Adams and Brandi Carlile. Three day and single day passes are available. Three-day passes start at $140.00. Members of WXPN pay $70.00.

The Bluegrass and Blueberries Festival at Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA is the perfect way to celebrate the blueberry season. Musikfest has been held every year since 1984 in Bethlehem, PA, and it is the nation's largest free music festival (non-gated.) Although the majority of the festival is free, the headline performances are ticketed, and the prices vary. The lineup for the festival includes Don Henley, Run DMC, Dierks Bentley, Aretha Franklin, X-Ambassadors, Boston, Bush and Chevelle, Sabrina Carpenter, The Avett Brothers and Lady Antebellum. The festival also includes kid activities, other musical and dance performances, comedy shows and tons of restaurant pop-ups.

The Schwenksville, PA area folk festival has been a tradition for over forty years and is said to be the largest and oldest festival in the country. Every year, the festival packs in almost 15,000 people at the Old Pool Farm for the four-day festival. There is a lot to do with the whole family, including kids activities, crafts and workshops. The family-friendly campgrounds make this the perfect family destination this summer. There are tons of shops that are local to the area, as well as traveling vendors to buy gifts and trinkets from. Enjoy the street performers, jugglers, contortionists and other fringe artists during your stay. There is so much to do at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, you will never be bored.
