Top Country Bars In The Philadelphia Area

If you happen to be a cowboy or cowgirl living in Philadelphia, there's a country-western bar waiting for you. They might be few and far between, but there are still places you can go for some country dancing and live music. With that said, if country music or line dancing are your thing, head to one of the bars listed below.

Brickette Lounge
1339 Pottstown Pike
West Chester, PA 19380
(610) 696-9656
www.brickettelounge.com

Brickette Lounge is located in West Chester, just a quick 40-minute drive from Philadelphia. This country bar never charges a cover and has live country and classic rock bands from the area play every Friday and Saturday. If you're a musician and are looking for a place to play, come in on Wednesdays for its open mic night. Line dancing occurs every Tuesday and Thursday night, with lessons beginning at 8 p.m.

Golden Nugget Tavern
433 New Freedom Road
Berlin, NJ 08009
(856) 809-2695
www.goldennuggettavern.net

The Golden Nugget Tavern has been bringing country music to southern New Jersey since 1956 and has been owned by the same family for all those years. Live music, featuring a different band every week, occurs Friday and Saturday nights at 9 p.m. The bands play an array of both classic and modern country music and, in front of the stage, there's a wood dance floor. There are also plenty of tables to sit and enjoy the music, a cold beer from the bar (many favorite domestics are on draft) and some delicious food, like Golden Nugget's famous wings it's been serving since 1980.

Johnny Utah's
461 N. 3rd St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
(267) 909-9829

Johnny Utah's is known to play a variety of music, especially dance and popular tunes during the weekend, but country music still holds the reins at this joint in the Northern Liberties section. Home to Philly's first mechanical bull (the second is at PBR), Johnny Utah's is a fun place to party. It serves Southwestern food (wings, pulled pork sandwiches) and has daily drink specials that are sure to get you dancing on top of the bar.

PBR Bar and Grill
1100 Pattison Ave.
Philadelphia, PA 19148
(215) 251-7932
www.PBRPhilly.com

Opened Wednesday through Sunday, PBR Bar and Grill is part of the live entertainment compound, Xfinity Live!, located adjacent to the South Philly Sporting Complex. PBR stands for Professional Bull Riders (not the beer) and, as the name might suggest, has a mechanical bull that you can ride, but also sees bull-riding professionals. During the day, the kitchen serves true Tex-Mex cuisine and, at night, the dance floor lights up for a county and southern rock party.
