While Philadelphia isn’t New York in terms of size and style, we still have our share of nightclubs in the city. Electronic Dance Music (EDM), a burgeoning genre, is especially prominent in these clubs. See below for some of the best clubs in Philly to dance to EDM, and remember to dress to impress!
Voyeur Nightclub
1221 St. James St.
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(215) 735-5772
www.voyeurnightclub.com

Voyeur is just getting started when most bars are closing down. This three-level dance club stays open until 3:30 a.m. every night of the week. House and techno music is often emanating from the dance floor, and the people here know how to dance. Voyeur is a great place for those not ready to go home at 2 a.m., as many patrons enter for late-night dancing and drinks after enjoying another bar beforehand. Along with the dancing on the main floor, there is also a basement bar and an upper level VIP area where bottle service is provided.

Rumor
1500 Sansom St.
Philadelphia, PA 19102
(215) 988-0777
www.rumorphilly.com

Rumor is located at 15th and Sansom and has two dance floors – one that primarily plays house music and another that plays mostly top 40 and hip hop. Along with the two dance floors, there is also a VIP area (which, if you’re a lady, you shouldn’t have difficulty getting into) and another room for a bar. The dance floors and VIP room also have their own separate bars. A $20 cover will get you in, and this nightclub is open from Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Red Sky
224 Market St.
Philadelphia, PA 19106
(215) 925-8080
www.facebook.com/redskyphilly

Red Sky is a new American restaurant and dance club located in Old City on Market Street. People come to Red Sky for the dancing, atmosphere and music. While the club plays pop and top 40 music, this club also often hosts electronic dance music and dubstep nights. One thing to note, though: Red Sky is tiny, and the drinks are expensive unless you come in when there are drink specials. The cover charge can be as small as $5, but it can be more on certain nights. There is also a VIP section upstairs.

Lit Ultrabar is open on Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. until 3:30 a.m. Every week, Lit features international house DJs; it’s actually one of the top places to find electronic dance music in the city. Lit is a big venue with plenty of places to sit and relax if you get tired of dancing. There is also a smoking section in the back. If you’re planning on going to Lit Ultrabar, make sure you sign up for the guest list beforehand. It often gets you in without a cover charge.

Whisper

Philadelphia, PA 19103

Whisper is a swanky nightclub located in the Rittenhouse Square area. There are six bars, and the VIP sections on the upper levels overlook the dance floor. The drinks are expensive and the cover can be as much as $20, but the typical music here is house and electronic. Whisper also has professional dancers during the night, in case you want to model your moves off of them.
