Opened in 2014 in the Graduate Hospital area at 16th and Bainbridge, the Baker's Jar offers a new twist on favorite sweets, with all cakes served in a mason jar, either as a mini (for $3.50) or the standard sized (for $5). Indulge in such chocolate-delicacies as chocolate bread pudding, mud cup (chocolate pudding and chocolate cake mixed together!) or ooey gooey chocolate cake, a layered cake made with caramel sauce and homemade ganache. Swiss Haus Bakery uses the same recipes that were brought to Philadelphia from Europe 90 years ago and made famous by the now-closed Swiss Pastry Shop. These timeless recipes live on in the Swiss Haus Bakery through its baker Donna Feldman, who learned the classic recipes while working for the Swiss Pastry Shop and new-owner Joshua White.
