Cornhole, known to others as “baggo” or “bean bag toss,” has been around for centuries and is now a popular bar game across the country. Philadelphia even has its own league for the sport – aptly named the Philadelphia Cornhole League. The PCL plays throughout the year at many different bars around town, and people of all skill levels are invited to join a team. If you’re not quite ready to join the league, here are the best bars in Philly to test your cornhole skills.

The Druid’s Keep
149 Brown St.
Philadelphia, PA 19123
(215) 413-0455

The Druid’s Keep is a neighborhood bar in Northern Liberties located in a corner row home. It may be a dive bar, but it is also a craft beer haven, with nine drafts on tap and more than 50 bottles to keep you satisfied. This pet-friendly bar has plenty to keep you entertained, from pool tables to dart boards and, you guessed it, cornhole. Head outside for a game of cornhole on the backyard patio or stay inside to play Golden Tee while rocking out to the jukebox. Whatever you choose, you’re sure to have a good time.

Mad River Bar & Grill
4100 Main St.
Philadelphia, PA 19127
(215) 482-2666

This spring, the Philadelphia Cornhole Wednesday Night League will play every week at Mad River Manayunk starting May 7 and ending June 25. Mad River is a spacious bar, featuring a huge dining room and an outdoor patio. This place is also a destination to watch your favorite sports game on one of its many TVs throughout the bar. Ten booths even have their own personal TV. The kitchen serves great bar food including burgers, quesadillas and wings, and the bar won’t disappoint with its draft and bottle selections.

Nintendo 64, Xbox 360, shuffleboard and arcade games all make this Old City bar an entertaining place to be on a Saturday or even a Monday. Add in cornhole and you’re all set for a fun night out with your friends. Sto’s Bar is also a great place to watch the game, with one of its 10 TVs certain to play your favorite team. There are beer specials aplenty (like $10 for a pitcher of Walt Wit) and if you love fries, you’ll be in heaven with its more than 10 varieties available (bacon cheese fries, Belgian fries, etc.).

Victory Beer Hall
Xfinity Live
1100 Pattison Ave.
Philadelphia, PA 19148
(267) 443-6418

Victory Beer Hall is part of the bar and restaurant scene at XFinity Live located in the Wells Fargo Complex. Great for before or after a sports game, the 2,000-square-foot patio is where you want to be for group games like beer pong or cornhole. In fact, Philadelphia’s Thursday night spring Cornhole League takes place here. It began May 1 and is an eight-week program, ending June 19. Head to Mad River Manayunk on Wednesday nights or Crabby Café & Sports Bar on Tuesday nights to watch other cornhole teams.
