Rails, crawls and ski lifts. They're all backdrops for Halloween season hi-jinx this month. Whether you're up for an adult ramble to the supernatural or a family affair with some thrills, chills and hay rides, costume up and come along for a day, night or getaway weekend. Here's where. -- Jay Lloyd

SPRING MOUNTAIN

Take a night ride on a chairlift over darkened ski trails. Then thread a barely lit meandering slope back down the mountain where the ghosts of 19th century men who worked the local quarries are believed by locals to wander the hills in search of their past. Or you can do it the easier way on a hayride with family and friends. The wagon traverses the hill. But who knows what lies beyond the trees? It's all part of the fun on weekends till the end of the month at Spring Mountain in central Montgomery County. Yes, you will have to part with some coin. It's a $25 dollar tariff for the lift and hayride or $18 if you just ride in the straw. To get your heart re-started after the venture, there's a firepit bar and live weekend music.

BLUE MOUNTAIN

Leave the candy crawl to the kids this Halloween. But if you're looking for some adult trick-or-treating, set a course for Blue Mountain Ski Resort, north of Allentown. A $15 toll gets you past the guardians of a beer and wine infused route around the Summit Courtyard to sample the annual smorgasbord of craft beers and local wines. The sweet tooth hasn't been forgotten at this "Boos and Brews" event. There will be candy aplenty to compliment the libations. A roaring fire and live music rounds out a seasonal theme on Thursday, October 27. Sip and nosh from 6-8 p.m.

NEW HOPE AND IVYLAND RAILROAD

The "All-Aboard" call sounds at 6:15 on the New Hope Station platform. The adult fare is $33. Kids pay $32 and infants ride for $10. Fares are $50, $49 and $10 in the luxury first class cars. COLEBROOKDALE RAILROAD

Bonfires, hauntings and leaf peeping ride the tracks from Boyertown to Pottstown via the vintage cars of the Colebrookdale Railroad. It's a family affair on trains that offer meals and drinks while riding through the fields and forests of Berks and Montgomery Counties. Pick your ride, either haunted or colorful foliage trimmed vistas. The bonfire and haunted rides leave from the Boyertown Station for an adult fare of $27. Youngsters fork over $20 and toddlers ride for five. Shave $5 off the adult tariff for seniors. Add $3 for the foliage rail rambles.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ - NEW HOPE, PA

If you're in a living dead frame of mind, find a costume that fits your funk and head for the old River Horse Brewery in Lambertville this Saturday. Be there by 5 for the Zombie Crawl over the river (by bridge, of course). The staggering, swaggering crew will be heading for the Bucks County Playhouse in the heart of New Hope. Then get ready for a unique, ghoulish dance party sprinkled with prizes for the best costumes. The tariff to do the crawl and dance your heart out is a $10 donation per family. And if you say, you have nothing to wear. Pop into New Hope early to paw through the vintage clothing at "Love Saves the Day."

Now get out there to shriek and moan. Have fun.
