THE DEFENSE

Q: It's Defend Your Ride Philly! Melissa, tell us, where do you live and how old are you?

A: Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania 19066 and 24.

Q: Got it! How'd you get your brand spanking new Honda Civic?

A: I bought my car in August of 2011 as a gift to myself. My previous car became more trouble to keep than it was worth. I purchased my car from a dealer at the Turnersville Auto Complex in New Jersey. I've always said that my next car was going to be a Honda because of their reputation of being so reliable. When I realized it was time to trade my old car in and head to the dealership, I didn't need much "selling" from the dealer. Because of that, it was a quick and painless experience. I knew what I wanted and was ready to sign and drive away.

Q: How do you feel about it?

A: With my Honda Civic, I feel confident in a truly reliable car. I absolutely love it! It's an affordable, simple and realistic car. My car's main use right now is to get me to work each day. Because my job is located approximately three miles from where I live, I'd say I'm in my car for approximately two to three hours a week.

Q: That's ideal. Any road trips? What's the farthest you've been so far?

A: The Poconos. It was a three-hour trip and I went with a few good friends, so it was awesome.

Q: What's the one thing you would change to your car?

A: A sunroof. I think they just make cars look more fun.

Q: What do you listen to in your car? Do you ever rock out or sing along?

A: I hook up my iPhone and listen to Pandora. Usually, it's music I can sing along to because I believe everyone should sing while driving. It's a great way to pass the time during a long commute.

Q: How many miles do you think are in the life of your car?

A: My guess is 225,000. I plan on treating it very well and driving until it just won't start any longer.

Q: What do you think your next car will be?

A: My next car will most likely be another Honda Civic--at least that's how I feel right now!
