THE DEFENSE

Q: Thank you Kieran for participating in Defend Your Ride Philly. Tell us about your car. Where did you get it?

A: I bought this car on the same day I made settlement on my house. I used stock that I owned in Apple to make the down payment. Poor investment strategy, sold the stock at $200 a share! I bought my car from Springfield Ford from a friend of the family, Tom DeVito. I ordered the car in January, but didn't get it until almost June! It was well worth the wait though. The dealer has been very nice to deal with.

Q: Sounds like it. Before we go any further, where do you live and how old are you?

A: I'm in Springfield, Pennsylvania, 19064. I'm 25 years old.

Q: Nice. So what is your car's main use? Are you spending a lot of time in it?

A: I mainly use my car to get to work, from Springfield to Narberth, about 15 miles a day. It takes about 45 minutes each way due to traffic. Weekends are a different story. This car gets around on the weekends! I mainly take it down the shore or for weekend trips to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.

Q: What's the best or worst part of your commute?

A: I pass about eight schools on my way to work, so that's a major traffic jam.

Q: Is the shore the farthest place you've taken it?

A: The farthest I've driven this car, so far, was to the Poconos. I've planned a road trip to Niagara Falls and Cedar Point though. I'm really looking forward to that.

Q: Do you have any rules in your car?

A: Only I touch the music! I do allow food, but nothing greasy.

Q: What do you like to listen to?

A: I mainly use my iPhone as an iPod.

Q: If your car had a human emotion, what would it be and why?

A: My car is a showoff. I swear it squeals its tires on purpose, right when there are a bunch of people around. It also just seems to speed up on its own when we're on the highway with another car pushing on it.

Q: That's a lot of personality for a car, for sure. How long do you plan to keep it?

A: I have no plans on ever giving this car up! I've wanted one for years. It will eventually become a weekend car, but not any time soon.

Q: What is your absolute dream car?

A: My absolute dream car is a 1966 Shelby Mustang GT in the same color scheme.

Q: Sounds perfect. Is there anything else we should know about this car?

A: Yes, the car is an automatic, and I catch grief for it sometimes. But one, I get annoyed with stick shifts. And two, my car still has 420 horses behind it.
