Thanks to a $5 million dollar plan to restore the school’s condemned boathouse, rowing and crew will stay alive.
Each team, represented by their coach and two players, had 15 minutes to state their cases, how they were affected and why their team should stay, speaking directly to School President Neil Theobald, Athletic Director Kevin Clark and Board of Trustees members.
School officials say it will be a chance to “exchange viewpoints” during these meetings, as members of the teams try to get more answers and keep their programs alive.
Temple University says it is cutting seven sports programs in 2014, including baseball, women’s rowing and softball, among others. Nine coaches will lose their jobs.
