Fire officials say two residents are dead and a police officer was injured during a house fire early Thursday morning in South Philadelphia.
Police say it happened shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the 1400 block of Ritner Street.
Officials directed 17 people to leave their homes on Snyder Avenue around 2:40am because of a leak in a 4 inch gas main.
The blaze was placed under control shortly before 3:20am.
