Philip Rivers threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to rookie Keenan Allen and Nick Novak kicked four field goals for the San Diego Chargers, who used long drives to keep Andrew Luck off the field in a 19-9 victory against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.
The players spent much of Monday trying to correct their mistakes from Sunday’s 33-30 loss to the Chargers. The sting of the defeat was still evident in the locker room on Monday and players such as Kurt Coleman were more worried about winning than beating their former coach.
Michael Vick threw for a career-best 428 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score. But a porous Eagles defense couldn’t stop Rivers all day.
Football was back at the Linc on Sunday — and so was tailgating. Thousands of fans gathered in the lots around the stadiums hours before the start of the game between the Eagles and the Chargers.
