The last thing anyone expected out of the 2013 Eagles season was a storybook performance from Nick Foles.
At times, it seemed like the Eagles were a team of destiny. A lucky bounce here and there, a convenient injury to an opponent, the top rated passer in the NFL, and the leading rusher.
I’ve always said, I’d rather my team lose a big game in a blow out than lose at the buzzer, or in the final seconds. Final second losses sting the most because all you can think about afterwards is, “what if this”, “what if that.” You replay those moments over and over again.
A last-second field goal by Shayne Graham brought an end to the first season of the Chip Kelly era as the Saints left Philadelphia with a 26-24 victory in the NFC Wild Card playoff. The time for season-long evaluations will come over the coming week, but for now let’s take a quick look at how the Eagles performed in this game.
SportsRadio 94WIP will get the City of Brotherly Love ready for Saturday night’s Wild Card matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis says it’s the noise, not the cold, that affects the Saints on the road.
Eagles playoff game sells out, but Packers, Bengals and Colts still thousands of tickets away.
Philadelphia Eagles and SportsRadio 94WIP will host a Playoff Pep Rally at Chickie’s and Pete’s in South Philly on Thursday, January 2nd at 5:30PM
Drew Brees can be patient behind a steady offensive line. The Eagles struggled to bring a pass rush on Kyle Orton many times on Sunday night, so look for the defensive line to try and correct that this week against New Orleans. Easier said than done of course.
Tickets for Saturday evening’s game at Lincoln Financial Field versus the Saints will go up for sale at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31st.
Drew Brees will be much more successful against the Eagles defense than back-up Kyle Orton was in the final game of the regular season. But, if the Eagles can knock Brees off his game, then the Saints could quickly run out of options to try and keep up wit the Eagles offense.
Halfway into the season, Eagles were sitting at 3-5 and appeared dead in the water. Kelly saw this team pull together even tighter.
All week. All day. I couldn’t wait for this game.
There have only been five teams in the league you can count on for survival. And I mean really count on. They rarely make you sweat, and when they do it’s only a temporary perspiration until they regain control of the game. These teams are the Broncos, Chiefs, Patriots, Seahawks and Saints.
