The Nutter administration says the controversial fire department policy of station “brownouts” will continue even if City Council appropriates extra money to eliminate them.
“You need to follow and make sure these funds are not delegated for anything other than to stop these brownouts, to support our firemen,” said Diane Neary, whose husband Robert was killed in a warehouse fire last month in Kensington.
Philadelphia City Council wants to end the policy of rolling brownouts, but the Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers said they will stay in place.
