Bankruptcy Judge Terminates Philadelphia Orchestra’s Current Pension Plan

A judge gave the Philadelphia Orchestra permission to terminate its single-employer pension plans. The orchestra said it would be, “difficult, if not impossible,” to reorganize the orchestra with the current plan in place.

The board of directors of the Philadelphia Orchestra could decide on Saturday whether to file for bankruptcy, and the musicians have been staging quiet protests against the possible move.
