In a move that increases the chance for getting a bill to the governor before recess, the committee approved a plan that raises less money for roads, bridges, and mass transit than a bill passed by the state senate but more than what Gov. Corbett has proposed.
“The turnpike, quite frankly, isn’t going to survive if this continues,” Pennsylvania auditor general Jack Wagner told legislators.
A bill that would allow for a 70-mph speed limit on some sections of the Pennsylvania Turnpike has cleared its first legislative hurdle.
