At the United 93 memorial in Shanksville, PA, Flags are in abundance here. Strangely, there is a calmness here, it's quiet and serene, not much talking, you don't need to talk. Large granite memorials to small painted rocks done by children, mementos left everywhere. There is a need to leave something, a tribute of sorts. It's heartwrenching but heartwarming at the same time, as odd as that sounds. It's a reminder of our strengths and the love of our country. A place where everyone should go, even if it's just once, you won't regret it, you'll come away a different person for being here, and proud to be an American. This memorial won't be around much longer, a permanent one will be there, eventually. This one should stay but it isn't, and that's sad, because this one was made by people like you and me - Submitted by Paula Rowell of Pine Grove, Pa.
