Independence National Historical Park
A group of grade school students visiting Philadelphia’s historic district got a real life lesson on Friday about the US government and the possible government shutdown.
If the federal government does shut down on Friday, some of Philadelphia’s top tourist attractions will be closed to the public.
Even though there is scaffolding on all four sides of Independence Hall for the restoration of the icon’s tower, visitors will still be able to pose for photos on the mall with the image of the building in the background thanks to decorative panels being put into place this week.
Wednesday is Founders Day, the anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service and there’ll be a special program held several times during the day to celebrate in Independence National Historical Park.
