There was at least one fan in Philadelphia that left Lincoln Financial Field happy on Sunday, Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown.
Most of the talk about the Eagles ugly, 17-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, has been about the quarterback. Nick Foles was by all accounts, terrible, missing receivers, and often times holding the ball far too long. Foles was inaccurate and ineffective.
Eagles players were heard yelling ‘Papa John’s,” prior to Manning snapping the ball during the Broncos 52-20 win. Manning is featured in Papa John’s commercials, and owns several franchise locations of the pizza delivery restaurant.
The Eagles were the first team in NFL history to open up the season with three games in 11 days. The last of the three, a Thursday night loss to the Chiefs, was a particularly sloppy effort from the Eagles, featuring five turnovers.
The game itself, as it turned out, was a less than optimal setting for Donovan McNabb’s retirement ceremony during halftime of Thursday night’s Eagles loss to the Chiefs. But the loss didn’t make the night any less special for McNabb.
On Thursday night, Andy Reid returns to Philadelphia as his Kansas City Chiefs take on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Also, at halftime, the Eagles will retire Donovan McNabb’s number five jersey.
