“It looks like the bridge will be open by the end of this week, or at the latest probably Saturday,” says Camden County freeholder Ian Leonard.
After a year and a half of construction, the State Street Bridge, spanning the Cooper River, is expected to reopen by August 1st, as two bridges.
Here’s proof of the concept that in times of need neighbors come to the rescue. In this case, it’s county to county in helping one shore community clean up.
“The smoke was so dense that you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face,” says Mark Simonetti of the county’s Office of Emergency Management. “We blew out this 12,000-square-foot building in roughly two and a half minutes.”
