A new farmers’ market in Philadelphia celebrated its grand opening Sunday.
On the calendar: a competition of food truck vendors in Penn Treaty Park, a vegetarian festival at Headhouse Square, and an evening street fair in West Oak Lane.
With so many farmers’ markets within the city and scattered throughout the suburbs, Philadelphians can take their pick of delicious, local produce, dairy products and baked goods…even artisinal chocolate!
“We didn’t want it to be your typical festival food event, so you’re not going to find funnel cakes and chicken fingers,” says Food Trust nght market coordinator Diana Iskolsky Minkus.
It’s the city’s first night market, along East Passyunk Avenue around Tasker, highlighting the city’s burgeoning street food scene and ethnic restaurants.
