Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
It was a very busy weekend at multiplexes, thanks to one big new movie. As expected, movie audiences were hungry and game for The Hunger Games.
The weekend’s only new mainstream attraction, a comedy about undercover cops based on the eighties TV series, starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, arrested audiences to the tune of $35-million, good for a robust first-place finish on its debut weekend.
The animated attraction, ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’, made it two weekends in a row on top of the box-office heap, earning an estimated $39-million in its second weekend of release for another first-place finish.
The animated feature, “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax”, with a voice cast led by Zac Efron and Danny DeVito, ran away to a first-place finish on its debut weekend, earning an estimated and surprising $71-million.
