City Council’s finance committee has approved a name change for the tax business owners love to hate — Philadelphia’s “Business Privilege Tax.”
What’s in a name? A lot apparently, when you’re talking about one of the most-hated taxes in Philadelphia: the ironically-named “Business Privilege Tax.” Mayor Nutter now says a better name is in order.
Philadelphia City Council this coming week is likely to extend a program that gives companies a break on their business taxes, if they bring new jobs in the city.
