Blackberry is betting that their new touchscreen will win back the hearts of businesspeople.
Last week, we told you about Samsung’s new Galaxy Note: the smartphone-tablet hybrid is set to hit store shelves next month. Today, it’s Apple’s turn — with the iPhone maker expected to announce its own big-screen handheld.
Blackberry has gone from ruling the smartphone universe to the bottom of the heap. But at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company’s CEO says don’t count them out yet.
Keek allows users to create 36 second videos, known as “keeks.” The growing social video network has almost doubled its users in the last four months.
“Whether they are former Blackberry users or current Blackberry users, they’re really going to like it,” The Verge editor Dan Siefert says.
The device-maker, seeking a reversal of fortunes as it struggles to compete with smartphones that are perceived as far ‘cooler.’
But even with these new devices, Seifert believes BlackBerry will have a problem winning over iPhone or Android users.
Research In Motion now will be known as the device it creates. “RIM becomes Blackberry,” said CEO Thorsten Heins. The company is offering its first touchscreen device.
