Lauren Lipton
Lauren Lipton, a fixture in Philadelphia journalism, is “at the editor’s desk” for KYW Newsradio listeners every weekday morning.
A reporter, anchor, and editor for KYW Newsradio since 1985, Lipton’s voice is well known to KYW listeners from her “Positively Philadelphia!” reports heard Sundays and Mondays.
Before joining Newsradio, Lipton was a reporter, producer, and ultimately executive editor for CBS 3 (KYW-TV).
Longtime radio listeners in the Delaware Valley will remember her newscasts on WFIL Radio, one of the most successful “Top 40″ radio stations in the country at the time, where she was the station’s first female anchor.
She has won numerous awards for her journalism work including a special commendation from President Ronald Reagan for her news series on volunteerism, an Associated Press award for best television newscast, and two Emmy nominations.
In addition to her work at KYW, Lipton is a part-time faculty member at Temple University, where she has taught since 1989. She has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania, and has been named to the Hall of Fame of Temple University’s School of Communications and Theatre.
A New York City native, Lipton holds a bachelor’s degree in radio, television, and film from Temple University. She lives in center city Philadelphia.
