What: The fourth Philly Tech Week, organized by tech news site Technically Philly, is a series of events held at various locations. Last year, Tech Week hosted more than 100 technology-related events across the city, including seminars, workshops and happy hours.
When: April 4-12, 2014
Why: Philly Tech Week’s goal is to celebrate and grow technological innovations in the Philadelphia area.
Schedule of Events: Philly Tech Week has a variety of events planned in different genres, including a massive game of Tetris that will be played on the Cira Centre and “Track Days,” or one day conferences on different topics.
Saturday, Apr. 5
PhillyCHI 8th Annual Design Slam
The DEC Center

11 – 4 p.m.
Challenge yourself at this “design slam,” which pits teams of competitors tasked with solving a problem via tech against each other. The event is a chance for students of all levels to work alongside pros in the tech industry. Spectators are welcome, and a panel of judges will choose the winning design.
Arcade @ The Oval
Eakins Oval and the Ben Franklin Parkway
7 – 10:30 p.m.
Celebrate the start of Tech Week and the return of The Oval, an eight-acre activity hub at the foot of the Art Museum. Games, food trucks, a Yards beer garden and live performances are all on the roster, but the absolute coolest part of this event? Gamers can try their hand at Tetris on the Cira Centre building, which has been Guinness-certified as the tallest video game in the world!

Cira Centre Pregame: Arduino Controller Workshop
2025 Washington Ave
12 – 3:30 p.m.
Learn to build and program your own game controller, which you’ll then use to play games on a mini Cira Centre replica. Tours of the NextFab facility, light snacks, drinks and a demo will follow. Bonus: The controller is yours to keep, and will work with any PC for basic games as a replacement for the keyboard!

Tech Mix It Up: A Diversity Networking Affair
William Way Community Center

Spend happy hour at this diversity networking event, where you can meet like-minded techies of every race, gender and ethnicity, as well as members of the LGBT and special needs community. The event includes food from restaurants such as Cedar Point and Khyber Pass as well as drinks, games and prizes.

Femme and Fortune Presents “From Passion to Business”

Three local female entrepreneurs will discuss their successes and struggles within the tech industry at this professional development event for women. And get your questions ready for the ladies, as there will be a spirited Q&A session, too.

Take a trip down memory lane at this gaming event, where you’ll get to show off your skills on some seriously old-school games.
