my cat stoped using his litterbox and now he wants to go behind my chair can you give me some idea why he would do this

My cat just started peeing all over the basement. The basement is covered with carpet. Her Litter box is in the basement bathroom. It almost make me think that she can”t make it to the bathroom. We had her since early 1999. Do you have any ideas.

i am watching and taking care of my daughter’s cat while she is away, and her cat ,caught some type of cold or infection, in his left eye, i don’y have the finances right now , and i called the spca and also the univeristy of penn vet clinic they said they can’t help me unless i have the money. where can i take this wonderful cat, to get the help it needs
Litter box problems rank as the top problem with cats. I\’m sorry you are having the issue. A few things to think of: urinary infection. This can be an overlooked cause, so be sure to have that ruled out. Also, has anything changed in your household – schedules, cats, dogs (even animals visible outside), people coming and going, construction outside or inside, change in litter or position of box. You will need to clean where the cat has been going with an enzymatic cleaner…not just water and ammonia. You can find that kind of cleaner at the pet stores. If it isn\’t cleaned, your cat is going to think of it as a bathroom. Is your cat spraying or marking for some reason is one of the things you will want to determine.
