Broken Water Main Leaves Dozens Without Power, Displaced In NE Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Officials say a broken water main left residents of four apartment buildings in Northeast Philadelphia without power and out in the cold on New Year's Day.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 9600 block of Ashton Road.

Residents of 33 units were forced out of their homes and into the sub-freezing temperatures as a result.

Crews were working to repair the broken main and restore power.
