Student Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle, Driver Arrested

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A St. Joe's University student was rushed to the hospital after police say she was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday night.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near the 5600 block of City Avenue.

Police say the vehicle was traveling northbound on City Avenue when the driver struck a 20-year-old female student crossing the road.

The student was transported to an area hospital where she's currently listed in critical condition.

The vehicle did stay at the scene.

Police say the driver appeared to be impaired and was arrested for suspected DUI. Police also found what appeared to be marijuana in the vehicle which was sent to a lab for testing.
