Police: Elderly Man Dies After Large Tree Falls On Him

MULLICA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- An elderly man died after a large tree fell on him on Thursday morning.

Mullica Township police say they responded to a call around 9 a.m. on Baremore Road where they found an 85-year-old man pinned underneath a tree.

Police say he was trying to cut down the tree, which is estimated to weigh a few thousand pounds, when it fell on top of him.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife was home at the time, but she was not hurt.

Police are investigating the incident.
