Police: Couple Sought In Pepper-Spraying Incident Over Parking In South Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Police are asking for the public's help finding two suspects wanted in connection with a pepper spray attack in South Philly.
"That would be the term for it: parking rage," said Captain Sekou Kinebrew.
Surveillance video shows a woman appearing to pepper-spray another woman in the face on in south Philadelphia just after midnight on July 24, and Philadelphia Police say it all started over a parking dispute.
"Something so minimal that could've been resolved with a bit more civility ended up resulting in a crime, an assault happening," Kinebrew said. "Street parking is public so there's nothing really to dispute."
Police say the video from Pat's Steaks on the 1300 block of East Passyunk Avenue shows the person of interest and a man arguing with a woman by their cars.
They eventually disperse, and the couple goes to get cheesesteaks.
But on their way back to the car the female driver approaches the same woman now sitting on a step and appears to pepper-spray her.
"That's outrageous honestly. I don't feel like anyone should be pepper-sprayed," said Jerry White.
Those CBS3 spoke to about the video say while Philadelphians can be notoriously pushy when it comes to parking spaces, using violence crosses the line.
"Well to me it's shocking," said Betty Antrilli.
"It's disheartening but I am reminded there are a lot of good people in the world," said Travis Commodore.
Police say the couple is appears to be in their 20s or 30s and fled in a black Hyundai SUV with Maryland tags.
