PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Former Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer is free on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty to federal corruption charges.
Spencer appeared at a Tuesday afternoon hearing in Philadelphia federal court.
Spencer was indicted last week, along with Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski and three alleged co-conspirators.
Spencer is charged with bribery and fraud for allegedly taking part in pay-to-play schemes.
Pawlowski pleaded not guilty to similar charges last week.
