PERKIOMEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities have arrested the daughter of a woman found stabbed to death inside a home in Montgomery County early Friday morning.

Police say Elena C. House-Hay, 21, found her mother, 54-year-old Annette House,  dead in their Perkiomen Township home on the 400 block of Abbey Lane. Elena was the one who called 911 shortly after 3 a.m.

According to police, House was found unresponsive on the second-floor bedroom with a wooden-handled kitchen knife in her chest. She was later pronounced dead.

Investigators were at the scene for over 12 hours Friday, combing through the home.

House was stabbed at least one time in the chest, police said.

According to Dr. Khalil Wardak of the Montgomery County Coroner's Officer, House died as a result of multiple stab wounds and ruled the manner of death homicide.

Authorities have taken surveillance video from a next door neighbor's home and have gone door-to-door, asking if anyone heard anything out of the ordinary or saw something suspicious.

"I was up at 3 o'clock letting my dogs out. I heard nothing," said one neighbor. "I can't believe it, I can't believe it."

Neighbors say the mother and daughter lived in the home together. They appeared close and can't quite understand how this could happen.

"I don't know much of her history, what she does and stuff, but I couldn't see anybody wanting to hurt her," said neighbor Pat Delaney.
