The state Department of Health has announced that Prime Wellness LLC of Sinking Spring and Franklin Labs LLC of Reading are the recipients of two permits allocated to the southeastern region of Pennsylvania for growing and processing.

John Collins, director of the Office of Medical Marijuana, says applications were 'objectively reviewed' by an evaluation team made up from members of various state agencies.

He says medical marijuana will not be grown in open fields.

"A grower processor has to grow medical marijuana in an indoor, enclosed, secure facility," Collins said.
