About 19,000 Chickens Killed In Lancaster County Barn Fire

STRASBURG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Lancaster County say a fire in a chicken house killed about 19,000 birds.

The fire broke out around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

It took firefighters about three hours to get the flames under control in Strasburg Township.

Officials say the chickens arrived last Monday and were housed in the barn that perished in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
