Police: Girl's Hair Set On Fire In Group Fight In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Authorities say six teenage girls are charged after trying to set another girl's hair on fire and poking a knife at another female at a SEPTA train stop.

Philadelphia Police say the attack happened Wednesday night around 7:30.

The 16 and 13 year-old victims were in the SEPTA El station at 46th and Market Streets in West Philadelphia when they were approached by the six offenders.

Police say the 16-year-old told them one of the teenagers used what appeared to be a torch to try and burn her hair.

The 16-year-old was taken to Children's Hospital where she was treated and released.

The 13-year-old victim told police she was pushed and poked from behind with a knife, and her jacket was torn as a result. She was not injured.

Police tracked down the six juvenile offenders. Charges against them will be released when the report is complete.
