History For Chestnut Hill College's Mary Trossi

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Division II Chestnut Hill College women's basketball team picked up a hard-fought, 94-92 overtime win over visiting Kutztown on Saturday.

The victory featured a history making performance for a key Chestnut Hill contributor. Sophomore guard Mary Trossi put together the first triple-double in program history, finishing with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.

She says she had no idea about the accomplishment until the game was over.

"During the game, I really didn't know my stats," Trossi tells KYW Newsradio. "People came up to me, telling me congratulations, and I'm like, 'Congratulations for the win?' They said, 'No, for the triple-double!' And I'm like, 'Oh really . . . really?!'"

Trossi is a big reason that Chestnut Hill is off to a 7-4 start. She is fourth on the team in scoring at 10.6 ppg and she leads the squad with 63 assists. She also pulls down more than six rebounds a game, but she says that aspect of the triple-double surprised her the most.

"I'm 5'2", no one really expects me to get 13 rebounds, you know what I mean?," Trossi says. "Assists come with the game, I've had that many before. But rebounds, that's not really my strength. That's what surprised me the most."

Being the first to accomplish anything is always special and Trossi says she has had time to process how special her performance was.

"I have," she says. "I'm just surprised that out of all people, me. You know what I mean? I just really didn't expect that to happen. For it to be the first in (program) history, I'm proud that I accomplished something that's never happened before."

Trossi and Chestnut Hill will host University of the Sciences on Monday night.
