Shoppers Take To The Stores As Holiday Gift Crunch Time Arrives

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (CBS) -- It's crunch time for holiday shoppers with Christmas now a week away. Mall officials planned for another blockbuster day at Willow Grove following a very busy Saturday.

Some folks, with worried faces, walked around the mall, scrambling to get that perfect gift, but Gerard was keeping his cool. "Stress? Not really. Other than the long lines at the stores, nothing bothers me other than that."

He's halfway finished his shopping, but still has to get his girlfriend a present. He can't mess that one up he says.

But not everyone is shopping. Greg is enjoying the sights and sounds. "Wanted to get out of the house, walk around a little bit, share some of the festivities with the kids. It's more of a leisure trip."

And there's nothing, he says, like seeing his young boys enjoy the spirit of the season. "The magical part of Christmas. It's fun being out with them so they can see Santa and celebrate"

Willow Grove general manager Romaine Crawford says Saturday was jam packed and it definitely spilled over with the holiday season wrapping up.  The mall opened up at 8:00 in the morning and some folks were waiting.

Michelle from Glenside was on a mission. "There's one product that I'm after and there's one in the store."

It's a mixer for her daughter. She says she can get it anywhere, but it's on sale, a big discount, so she had to grab it here. Also a long line to see the Big Guy, which included 9-year-old Hollyn. "We went to go see Santa and then we went to this little shop where we get light up shoes."

She says those light up shoes are a late addition to the list, but Hollyn is sure Santa will come through.
