Joel Embiid 'Didn't Trust The Process' For First Time Vs. Raptors

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brett Brown decided to start both Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor together, for the first time on Wednesday night.

The result? A 123-114 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Embiid, who had to leave the game for a short period with a bloody nose and twisted his ankle in warmups before the game, took only six shots scoring nine points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in 27 minutes.

"I think for once, since I've been a Sixer, I didn't trust the process tonight," Embiid said after the game. "I was just standing. I wasn't moving. I was just standing on the perimeter. I wasn't active on defense."

Okafor had a better performance, finishing with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and no turnovers in 30 minutes.

"I thought it was OK," Brown told reporters after the game. "I thought in general there were some good things that we saw."

Embiid suffered a left-knee contusion during Thursday's practice, after colliding with Dario Saric. It is not expected to be serious, as Embiid is listed as probably for Friday's game at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.
