Almost anywhere in Fairmount Park lends itself to a great photo, but if you are looking for open space, head to the Belmont Plateau, a grassy and serene area perfect for snapping a few holiday photos. An escape from city life, the Belmont Plateau offers the best view of the city skyline, one that will make a flawless backdrop to your family photo. Belmont Plateau is easily accessible by car and trails surround the area, offering even more picturesque scenes.

Franklin Square is decorated for the season with a miraculous display of lights, sculptures and more décor. Characters from the Nutcracker, Frozen and Star Wars will be on site for special character nights and Santa Claus himself will visit the square every Saturday during December, so get your cameras ready. Other picture-ready attractions include the Parx Liberty Carousel and the Lightning Bolt Holiday Express, where you can photograph your kids enjoying a special train ride.

A long-running neighborhood tradition, this display has been dubbed the Miracle on South 13th Street, and even has been mentioned in Travel + Leisure as the best Christmas lights in Pennsylvania. If you and your family decide to venture here, you'll be able to take a few photos in front of garlands, inflatable snowmen, flying reindeer and more.

Morris Arboretum at the University of Pennsylvania has 92 acres of land, trees and flowers and is perfect for snapping some family photos in front of fall and winter colors and blooms. Morris Arboretum is known for its museum of trees and 12,000 plants are labelled, so you'll know what you're standing in front of before posing. Taking photography is free with paid admission, but make sure you read its guidelines before heading to the gardens dressed in your holidays best. Wintergarden at Dilworth Park this year celebrates all 32 regional gardens and arboreta that surround the Philadelphia area. Detailed décor showcases all of the public gardens and the wintergarden features willow-branch archways and seasonal perennials, trees and shrubs. There is also a maze inviting families and friends to wander through admiring the garden and, at the center of the maze, is a gazebo that can be used to snap a holiday photo.
