BETHLEHEM, Pa. (CBS) -- Police say a female is facing charges after she allegedly stole the statue of baby Jesus from the Nativity Scene in the Plaza at City Hall in Bethlehem.

Authorities say the statue was recovered at the St. Luke's Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township.

The statue sustained damage on its leg and hand.

Police say surveillance photos of the suspect were released to the public and the female suspect was identified.

They say she will be charged with theft by unlawful taking and institutional vandalism.

Police say the alleged theft appears to have been planned.

Officials say the statue of baby Jesus has since been repaired and returned to the Nativity Scene.
