What To Look For In Eagles/Redskins Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles will look to snap a three-game losing streak and keep the faintest of faint playoff hopes alive on Sunday when they host the Washington Redskins.

Philadelphia is 5-7 and last time out they got smacked 32-14 in Cincinnati by the Bengals in a game that probably wasn't even that close. The performance was so bad it led to many questions about the level of effort some players were putting forth.

Washington will bring a 6-5-1 record to town and the Redskins have lost two straight. Last week, they fell on the road to Arizona, 31-23. Right now, Washington finds itself a half a game out of the final wildcard playoff spot in the NFC.

The Eagles have really struggled with Washington recently, the Redskins have won the last four meetings between the two teams, including the first match-up this season. Washington beat the Birds 27-20 back on October 17th down in Landover, Maryland. QB Kirk Cousins threw for 263 yards and two scores for the Redskins, who also rolled up 230 yards rushing. The Eagles offense was kept out of the end zone in that game, with the two Eagles touchdowns coming courtesy of a Malcolm Jenkins interception return and a kick return by Wendell Smallwood.

Eagles T Halapoulivaati Vaitai (knee) has officially been ruled out for Sunday. WR Dorial Green-Beckham (abdomen), RB Ryan Mathews (knee) and WR Jordan Matthews (ankle) are all officially listed as questionable, but it would seem that Mathews and Matthews are on track to return.

Washington's outstanding tight end Jordan Reed is questionable for Sunday with a shoulder injury.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Brandon Lee Gowton of BGN Radio and Philadelphia Magazine's "Birds 24/7" about Sunday's match-up.
