Lengthy Prison Sentence For Former Firefighter Who Took 4 Hostage In Cheltenham Firehouse
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- The former volunteer firefighter in Cheltenham who admitted to holding four people hostage after he was kicked out of the LaMott Fire Company last spring will spend at least a decade in prison.
Twenty-seven-year-old Paul Jordan was sentenced to 10-20 years in state prison on Monday.
According to court documents, the morning after he was expelled from the company for a comment he made to a juvenile, Jordan returned, pulled a gun and held four men hostage for about an hour-and-a-half, threatening to kill one of the men, and firing a shot into the wall by that man's head.
He pleaded guilty over the summer to several charges, including four counts each of kidnapping, and four counts of attempted kidnapping.
The court has recommended Jordan be sent to SCI Waymart, near Scranton, for mental health treatment of severe depression and PTSD.
