WinterFest Skates Back Into Camden County

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS) - As we get closer and closer to Christmas, holiday attractions all over the Delaware Valley are now open for business.

That includes Cooper River Park ice rink in Camden County, which officially kicked off on Black Friday.

Carolers serenaded the crowds, the ribbon to the rink was cut and the Christmas Tree was lit on opening night, which also featured horse and carriage rides, carousels and, of course, ice skating.

The winter wonderland is put together each year by Jeff Nash and the Camden County freeholders.

"It's spectacular," he says, "because you have this 80x120 foot ice rink, you have free rides for all the kids, there's ice skating lessons, dancing, singing. It's a great holiday experience."

Not to mention, he says, you won't have to break the bank to have a good time:

"What I really enjoy are the thousands and thousands of people who come out and have an inexpensive family outing that is so much fun."

And he got into the spirit...

"I'm going to try to get on the ice with my new skates and see if I can make it to the other end."

For those keeping score at home, he didn't fall once.

WinterFest is open daily through Valentine's Day.
