Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Ski Prep

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Skiers and snowboarders are starting to fantasize snow covered slopes. KYW's Jay Lloyd suggests preparing now to go straight from school or office to the slopes within an hour of your home.

There was KYW editor, Jerry Klein who headed straight from work five days a week to Spring Mountain. He learned to ski black diamond trails in a single season. Spring Mountain's Rick Buckman notes that area companies with as few as ten skiers or riders can get attractive group rates and boost employee team spirits by starting right now to set up their group.

"Somebody just has to take the lead and put it together," Buckman said.

Then just call in to Spring Mountain and make arrangements for weekly or occasional outings. Parents of fourth graders also get a big break.

"All the fourth graders in the area get a free season pass," he said. "They can use it at Spring Mountain as many times as they wish for the whole year."

But it's best to sign up early. Check the Spring Mountain web site for details. Then just think of all the snow.
