Sean Couturier Suffers 'Lower Body' Injury

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was a bitter-sweet night for the Flyers. Amid their 3-1 win over the Panthers on Tuesday night, valuable center Sean Couturier suffered an apparent knee injury in the second period.

The Flyers are calling it a "lower body" injury and Couturier will reportedly return to Philadelphia for an examination to determine if he'll need surgery.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Wednesday that they have placed Couturier on injured reserve and have recalled forward Scott Laughton from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Couturier, 23, has five goals and eight points in 20 games this season.
