Pederson: Hit On Jordan Matthews Should Have Been Penalty, Per NFL
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jordan Matthews took a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Atlanta Falcons rookie safety Keanu Neal in Sunday's game.
Although there was no penalty called on the field, to the dismay of the Eagles, head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Wednesday that the NFL says Neal should have in fact been flagged for the hit.
According to 94WIP's Howard Eskin, Neal will be fined.
"I definitely think it was a penalty," Matthews, who came away with a bloody lip, said after the game on Sunday.

"I'm not trying to hit the guy in the head,'' Neal said via ESPN.com. "That's not me. Never in the game of football will I ever try to do that. I'm not a dirty player like that. But I went for the strike zone. I lowered my shoulder. And I felt like I hit him in the sternum. I don't think I had any head-to-head contact."
