Carson Wentz Similar To Russell Wilson, After First Nine Starts

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Russell Wilson is arguably the NFL's most valuable player right now.

It's going to take, at least a little bit, for Carson Wentz to get to that level.

But comparing Wentz to Wilson might not be that crazy -- at least through their first nine starts.

Through their first nine starts of their career, both Wentz and Wilson went 5-4. Wentz's completion percentage is slightly higher than Wilson's was. However, this is just passing stats, of course.

Wilson rushed for 144 yards through his first nine games, finishing his rookie campaign 489 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Wentz has just 46 rushing yards thus far and no rushing touchdowns.

Now, Wilson's resumed is undisputed.

At 27-years-old in his fifth season, Wilson came one play short of winning two straight Super Bowls. Last season, he threw for 4,0024 yards (12th in the NFL), 34 TD's (6th), 8 INT's, completing 68.1-percent of his passes (3rd) for a QB rating of 110.1 (1st).

Wilson has lost just five home games in his life, including a 4-0 clip in the playoffs, and has never lost an NFL game by more than 10 points.

Wentz, like Wilson, is wired like a winner. They're both high-IQ quarterbacks, physically gifted, and ready to do whatever it takes to win.

Wilson has blossomed into a high-volume passing quarterback after starting his career playing with an elite defense and star running back in Marshawn Lynch. Similarly, Wentz has been guided by a strong defense this season.

Only time will tell if Wentz can become even almost as dominant as Wilson, and more importantly, if the Eagles can come as close to winning as much in the next four years as the Seahawks did in the last four.
