Eagles Nominate Darren Sproles For Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles have nominated Darren Sproles are their Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award nominee.

Each NFL team nominates one player for the award, which was created in 2014 and recognizes players around the league who exemplify outstanding sportsmanship on the field in honor of the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Football Hall of Famer Art Rooney, Sr.

Of the 32 nominees, eight finalists (four in the AFC and four in the NFC) will be selected by a panel consisted of Warrick Dunn, Curtis Martin, Karl Mecklenburg, and Leonard Wheeler. Then, current NFL players will vote on the winner of the award on Friday, December 16th.

The winner of the award will be announced on Saturday, February 4th and will received a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.

Charles Woodson won the award in 2014 and Larry Fitzgerald won the award in 2015.

Sproles, 33, has 61 carries for 304 yards and 33 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown this season. As the Eagles' most versatile player, Sproles also has 14 punt returns for 197 yards.
