The Eagles have been reeling since starting off the season 3-0 and hitting their bye week. They've gone 1-4 in their last five games including three division losses to sink them back to .500 and the bottom of the NFC East standings.
One of the main disappointments has been the play of running back Ryan Mathews who has been inconsistent this season. The last two weeks in particular, Mathews has gotten just nine rushing attempts as Darren Sproles has seemingly take over the role of lead back.
Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, the game plan seemed to be to get the ball to Mathews early and often. It paid off in the first quarter with his sixth rushing touchdown of the season.
The touchdown opened the scoring giving the Birds a 7-0 lead.
